Webinar "Hunting for E-Waste in Central Asia"

On October 18, the webinar "Hunting for E-Waste in Central Asia" brought together over 70 participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Among the attendees were representatives of government agencies, business structures, waste management organizations, NGOs, and educational institutions. The event served as an important platform for exchanging experiences, discussing global trends, and strengthening regional cooperation in e-waste management.

The speakers included Ksenia Lewandowski from the German Environment Agency, Alisher Yusupovich Akhmedov, Chief Specialist of the Ministry of Ecology of Uzbekistan, as well as Vera Mustafina and Yulia Lobuntsova from the Sustainable Development Promotion Center. They discussed innovative approaches presented at E-waste EXPO 2024, shared the results of the National E-Waste Monitoring: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan implemented with the support of UNITAR and the National E-Waste Report for Uzbekistan, and highlighted new initiatives being implemented in Kazakhstan.

One of the key moments of the webinar was the concluding discussion "Team Hunting: The Role of Cooperation in Solving the E-Waste Problem." The lively discussion emphasized the importance of collective action in achieving a sustainable future, with participants actively exchanging contacts and partnership proposals.

The webinar reaffirmed that only through joint efforts across the region can effective solutions for e-waste management be found, ensuring environmental security for Central Asia.
