Fourth UN Global Monitoring of e-waste 2024 published

Global e-waste production is growing five times faster than documented e-waste recycling, as shown by the fourth UN Global E-Waste Monitor (GEM), released on March 20, 2024.

A record 62 million tons (Mt) of e-waste was generated in 2022, an 82% increase from 2010. A further 32% increase is expected in 2030, to 82 million tons.

“The Global E-waste Monitor 2024 is an indispensable reference tool for policymakers and industry alike, showing the state of the world in terms of the global e-waste problem.” Since 2014, The Global E-waste Monitor has been the primary source of information on this pressing issue, and this monitor provides the most up-to-date overview of global data, statistics and policy and regulatory progress on e-waste. It also provides a glimpse of what the future holds if things change or stay the same.
