Central Asian E-Waste Forum: From Awareness to Action

On March 4–5, 2025, Dushanbe will host the first regional forum dedicated to e-waste management in Central Asia. This event aims to become a key platform for experience sharing, problem-solving, and advancing sustainable e-waste recycling practices across the region.

Central Asia faces significant challenges in e-waste management. In recent years, electronics consumption has increased dramatically, leading to a surge in waste generation. However, existing collection and recycling systems remain underdeveloped, and regulatory frameworks do not always ensure effective industry oversight.

While individual e-waste collection and recycling initiatives exist in all countries of the region, a systematic approach is still lacking. One of the key issues remains low public awareness about the importance of proper disposal.

The forum's primary goal is to move from theoretical awareness to practical solutions that will help build an effective e-waste management system in the region. Discussions will focus on best international practices, regulatory mechanisms, technological innovations, and economic incentives to foster recycling infrastructure development.
